8/30/2012 - All has been revealed!
The build up to this year's HHN reveal sure was fun. As I'm sure the majority of you saw, Universal revealed all the details about this year's event at midnight last night, exclusively to their Facebook audience. Then, today, we received another call at around 10:30am coinciding with the full reveal of this year's Halloween Horror Nights website. This phone call was a bit different than the others, and started off with the sound of someone running, and a female voice saying "They're everywhere!". Then, several demonic voices all say in unison: "We'll lurk in the dark, where you least expect us. We'll hunt you down, and you won't know where to run. Nowhere is safe at Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights 22. All has been revealed." You can listen to this call for yourself by clicking here.
With the official site update comes some interesting new info. The most interesting, I think, is the fact that the scare zones, dubbed "The Legions of Horror" will "move silently throughout the night, never staying in one place too long." Not only that, but according to the press release, "The Legions of Horror" "will find you and invade your personal space like never before. There will be no boundaries. The rules of the past will no longer apply." Sounds like Universal is taking scare zones to the next level this year, and I for one can't wait to see how this works out.
We also got the details on the last three houses, which are called "Dead End", "Gothic", and "Universal's House of Horrors". "Dead End" is based off a cursed old mansion located in none other than Carey, Ohio where many horrific acts took place. "Gothic" is set in the Catedral de Caementum Animus, which is currently undergoing an architectural refurbishment... but the cathedral is protected by stone gargoyles which come to life at night to ward off any intruders. Finally, "Universal's House of Horrors" will be presented in black and white, with flashes of lightning revealing "terror's true faces".
Overall, it sounds like this will be yet another fantastic year of Halloween Horror Nights, with some innovative new ideas and a few fresh house concepts. You can read the full press release by clicking here, and check out the Halloween Horror Nights website to see all the details yourself!
8/29/2012 - Cryptic Phone Calls, Full HHN Reveal Tonight!
Universal's PR department is doing an excellent job generating hype for the full reveal of everything HHN tonight. Not only have they been releasing clues for the past two days on the official Halloween Horror Nights Facebook page, they've also started placing cryptic calls to select media outlets teasing "all will be revealed soon". We got our first call last night at 10pm, which consisted of church bells, growling, and a demonic voice telling us "you can't escape centuries of hate".
We just received a second call today at around 1pm, with lightning and thunder crashes, howling, and the same demonic voice, this time saying "You're scared of the unknown, these creatures of the dark. And you should be." followed by a woman screaming, and then seemingly being ripped apart and eaten alive, likely by the howling creature.
You can listen to both messages for yourself by clicking on the links below. I apologize in advance for their low quality:
With the big reveal coming tonight at midnight, it'll be interesting to see if there will be any more calls between now and then. Stay tuned to our twitter feed for the most up to date news.
6/7/2012 - Haunt Season Already?!?
Well well well, it's barely the beginning of June, and yet preperations for this year's Halloween Horror Nights have already started. On Monday, June 4th, the HHN 21 site was taken offline and replaced with a generic site for HHN 22, comfirming the event will run for 25 nights from September 21st - October 31st at Universal Studios Florida.
With the first official HHN 22 update comes the first of many HorrorNights.be updates. For starters, I've added the HHN 21 site to the Past Websites page, and updated the HHN Countdown for this year's event. I've also got the HHN Update Chacker ready to go as soon as the HHN 22 teaser site launches, as well as archived last year's website update history.
Be sure to keep checking back during these summer months leading up to the event for more updates!
